<image:caption>WHAT IS THE WELLNESS GARDEN? The Wellness Garden will be a quiet corner of May Park in east Jackson, accessible and inviting to all ages and abilities. It is designed for contemplation and conversation, for strolling and rolling, and enjoyment of the native plantings, the hummingbirds and butterflies, and the Tetons view. It also includes a meadow for walking or exercising. Age Friendly Jackson Hole is raising funds to help build the Wellness Garden. Long leafed phlox. Photo courtesy Trevor Bloom.</image:caption>

<image:caption>LOCATION AND CONCEPT The Wellness Garden will be .72 acre within the larger 10-plus acre May Park which is at the corner of Hansen and Rancher Streets. Located in the southeast corner of the Park, the Wellness Garden will border the community vegetable and flower garden already in place and thriving. The Wellness Garden will provide spaces for quiet solitude and for chatting with friends, old and new. The concept has preliminary approval by the Teton County/Jackson Parks & Recreation Department. The total project cost is projected to be $500,000, which includes maintenance funding. Anticipated next steps include street enhancements such as sidewalks, curbs and accessible parking lots. Click here to read more about The History of May Park.</image:caption>

<image:title>History - The history</image:title>
<image:caption>Wayne May’s parents acquired the former George Lamb property in east Jackson in the early 1960s. The Lambs had raised Palomino horses there and built the original barn, still on the May Park property. Mr. May lived on and worked the land, growing hay and boarding horses. In 1982, Wayne May married Selma Parnes, who worked across the way at the Pioneer Homestead Apartments. In 1990, Wayne and Selma May generously sold the approximately 10-acre property to the Town of Jackson at one third its appraised market value, a wonderful gift to the people of Jackson, specifically for a park. At the time, the land was valued at $1.2 million. Photo by David Stump, The Jackson Hole Guide, October 14, 1982</image:caption>
